What if....?

What if there had been NO dopers in The Tour in the last 10 years? Who would have won?

What if Greg Lemond had refused to follow team orders and didn't let the Badger win?

What if he hadn't been shot while hunting?

What if you could somehow put a Flux Capacitor in your rear hub and everytime you got tired or behind on a climb or in a TT you could flick your brake lever or something and get a little burst of assistance? What if someone is already doing it?

What if Lance hadn't been dropped from Team Cofidis when they found out he had testicular cancer? What if he had never gotten cancer?

What if Big Tom Boonen hadn't snorted coke? What if he hadn't gotten caught?

Just curious.

Ride safe.

Peace out, yo!

What if and conjecture are wonderful ways to pass time aren't they? What if Hendrix never died, and used a digital studio today?

What if we ALL, I mean all this group that writes here met and went for a long ass ride one day. What a joy that would be. Til then, keep safe from cars and keep writing.

Great Idea Ari, I'd like that, but I'd definitely be a back of the packer!!!

Yup it would have been interesting if Janis, Jimi & Jim were still around, Wow, that would be awesome!!

Jimi Hendrix would be charging $300 a ticket, so I still couldn't see him play! :^)
No dopers in any sports would be nice. Hank Aaron would still be the home run king for sure.
LeMond raced back in the day when the French had something to brag about and there was no way this upstart American was going to spoil it. Could have made a big difference in his career and maybe even spoiled things for Lance.
Let me know if you find anything on the Flux capacitor; I really need one!
Lance certainly benefited later from being on strong teams and it does not appear that Cofidis was or is that team.
Boonen is a dick. No getting around that. He may not be a full fledge doper, but come on Dude; use your head! Steggmans did a great job in his absence and even picked up the primo final stage win. Maybe Tom will be his lead out man when he comes back!

What if LeMond had upstaged the Badger? Well, the French press would have hounded his soigners, busses, and hotel rooms looking for anyway to hang him out to dry and discredit him, just like they tried to do to Lance and did do to Floyd. In the end, all it took to run LeMond into the ground was his own mouth. :-)

I think the group ride suggestion here is stellar. Let's do it!

i'd be the lanterne rouge, for sure

oldman....
i think i'd save all my pop bottles til i got the scratch to see jimi.
the flux capacitor, well, i hope someone is closer to success than i am.

g-ted....
lemond's mouth is still his worst enemy.

i do like the group ride idea. i sense whiskey in copious amounts...

What if there were no white pick up trucks or SUV's allowed on the roads in Iowa? Would any of us ever get yelled at again?

Good questions Blue. I ready that when Lemond and Hinault battled up the Alp d'Huez the did the climb in something like 48 minutes. Just 12 short years later Pantani did it in 35 minutes. Hmmm.

chris....
i remember watching lemond and hinault on that climb on the one hour a week that we had coverage. i still get goose bumps when i think about it.
marco pantani was an absolutely amazing athlete. too bad he couldn't control his demons....

Gravel Grinder in the Fall sometime. Maybe we can do it on a Sunday. I will drive all the way to Iowa, via Saturday night to ride on Sunday and drive back home Sunday Night. I think we should do it.
