First group ride of the season....

7 showed up....

It was good. There were 6 guys and 4 girls out back of the shop when we rolled last night. The boys went west on Second Street and the girls headed to the bike trails, led by Sweet Amy (lookin' good, girl!).

We stayed together until we crossed First Street on Union Road, then the fast guys took off. Deerslayer had snuck up behind us at 2nd and Division and joined the fun. He took off with the fast guys, leaving The Thin Man, Redg, and me chasing into the wind. We caught up to "Chris The Bicycle Whisperer" at C57 and headed east. We'd been averaging about 16 mph into the wind but kicked it to about 20 after we'd made the turn.

It was a pretty easy ride for me, all tucked in behind The Thin Man with Redg on my wheel. When we hit Center Street we headed south back toward Cedar falls at about 23 mph with the wind at our backs. Almost all of the 4 wheeled vehicles that passed us gave plenty of room and there were no "bicycle/car" incidents. Just the way I like it!

It was a great "First Ride of the Season" ride. Wish there had been a few more people but, hey, it was a blast!

Jackal took off with the fast guys rolling his C-Dale CX bike. 1 X 10 with a 42 up front and a 13 for his smallest cog on the rear. CX tires too. That had to be a workout.

After all was said and done and we ended up back at the shop, Redg and I took off for home on the bike path. It was a good'en! Thanks, guys!
