Spring seems to be here....
When I bought the Passat the headlights were very yellowed and rough. It was part of my bargaining strategy to get a bit of a discount on the car because of that. Saved me $500! Well, I figured I'd just buy new lenses. Nope. Not happening. They don't sell them. Complete housings only. Almost $500 from Volkswagen. No problem, eBay! Nope. Anywhere from $200 and up for decent after-market headlights. Crap.
Walking through K-Mart one night and Judy says "hey! Look at this..." A headlight "Restoration" kit. Sweet! $20! Made by 3M. Comes with an attachment for your drill and a bunch of different sandpapers and a polishing bonnet. Remember working with Plexiglass in Jr. High shop class? Same thing goes here. Guess what? It worked! I spent about an hour out in the drive sanding them till you couldn't see through them then sanding them again with a finer grit, then one more time with an even finer grit, then some polishing compound on a foam polishing bonnet. Whoa! SUPER!!!!! Almost like new. I'm happy, Judy is impressed with my restorative abilities. What more could you ask for?
Rode down to Hudson and back this afternoon. Cross wind at about 10 mph, so no problems there. Great ride! Took the arm warmers off for the ride back. It was cool (58F), but nice.
Off to Arizona tomorrow for a few days. Back on Thursday. It'll be good.
Ride safe.
Peace out, yo!

It is not officially Spring until you mow the lawn at least once.....
hahah, Brian, yes lawn mowing is the sign.
Safe trip to AZ, soak up some sun for me!
p.s. My post was written very much tongue in cheek, glad you saw the humour!!
Brian: You mean it isn't Spring until Debi has mowed the lawn at least once :o)
Just wait until you hit your 60"s - you'll really depend on those restorative abilities .... or is this one of those family type blogs?
Have a great holiday and trip.
John
Blue - lets trade bikes for a while.
I didn't even know you could buy a headlight restoration kit. That is cool.
Do you do windows? If so, I have some I can't reach. Don't forget to bring your own ladder too!
I had to buy one new headlight for the Volvo when my son broke it with a deer. $375 at volvocarparts.com. Saved me about 125 bucks. I don't think your restoration kit would have fixed that!
Glad you could get some "sun" during your ride. Mine was windy and still cold. Arm and leg warmers still on.
Have a great time in AZ and say hi to the girls at HOOTS!
It's been very nice, peaceful, and enjoyable since you've been out of town! :) Hope you're having fun!!
Debi mowed the lawn, again, today. It sure is pretty!!!
Had the same VW Passat in the same color. Really liked it until it got sandwiched between a pickup and a Lincoln. It did its job but got smushed.

I like the landscape photos. So differtent from here. I went to college over that way but never rode a bike, just an old Lincoln Mark IV.
